Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J., author of Tattoos on the Heart and the founder of Los Angeles most successful gang-member rehabilitation ministry (Homeboy Industries), visited Brebeuf Jesuit yesterday to not only reach out to the entire student body through an all-school convocation event, but also make several visits with individual classes and with faculty and staff. Boyle shared through stories both heartbreaking and hilarious what hes learned during his work with gang members. Love - and tenderness - is the only cure for a broken spirit, he said. By recognizing the value of these individuals in the margins, by extending ourselves to share a sense of kinship with them, they will begin to regain their own sense of value.
