Frank Hensch & Robert Kohler, Im glad that they did not blame our sodding or pea gravel filling 40 years ago... Remember what it was upgraded from? Remember hauling the scoreboard from the Community Building WALL, to use at the football games? Hawley, MN (WDAY TV) - We still have about 8 weeks before first down Friday, but when it arrives you wont see our cameras at Hawleys football field. Thats because its getting a facelift, as part of the near $12 million project to renovate the school and some of its buildings, Nuggets head coach Peder Naatz says a new drainage system will be put in on the football field, and the grass will be removed and freshly hydro-seeded. In order for the new grass to take hold, the team will take a year off their new field and play home games at other sites, such as Moorheads new turf field, Concordia and the Fargodome. Peder Naatz/Hawley Football Coach: “The drainage has been a problem for quite some time, for many years. Its just been a matter of us kind of agreeing to do that with our team to take the year off. It will create a little more adversity throughout the year. It will just give our kids a different ways to play and different places to play and get used to it. The kids are so resilient they bounce back from everything so fast, thats one of the great things about being a high school coach, is working with these young guys. the kids are alright with it, everybody will adjust.” The Nuggets have only lost one home game over there last 3 seasons. Well see if they can have similar success at their temporary home fields. wday/content/hawley-high-school-football-team-set-play-all-games-away-home-upcoming-season
