Frank Innis -- When GOVERNOR Ronal Reagan became governor, the state of California was spending about $180 million on their prison system and about $850 million on higher education. 8 years later California was spending about $900 million on PRISONS and about $175 million on higher education. Higher Education had to make up the difference by raising tuition making higher educ more and more and more unaffordable. AS PRESIDENT Ronnie gave us incarceration policies (GET TOUGH ON CRIME) which over filled the Prisons..... States then cut funding to higher education and increased funding for prisons! Nationally, higher education began becoming more and more expensive. This fits the description of the shared article: "How the American University was killed......"
