Frank Theater / Sand Hills Cinema 10, another underlit movie experience. The first time we saw Olympus has fallen, the theater was dark. We mentioned it to management who gave us three free passes without question, apologizing and explaining that they were aware of the problem and had a new bulb on order for that projector. I dont remember the second movie we saw that was too dark but tonight we saw Gone Girl. Again, the brightest whites were easily at about 70% which compressed the shadows to flat black and made all of the midtones very dark. Jamie mentioned it to management at the beginning of the movie, but no adjustments were made. At this point, Ill drive to Millstone 14 in Fayetteville before Id go back to Frank Theaters. Better seating, great picture and sound, a little farther but very worth it. Sad. Weve enjoyed Frank Theater/Sand Hills in Southern Pines for years.
