If you remember the valley girls, you will remember them wearing multiple jelly bracelets, lots & lots of mesh, key-chain earrings, silk or satin blouses, poet shirts (taken from the new-romantic movement), vinyl hot pants, lacy bustiers, velvet jumpers, lots of gawdy jewelry, over-lapped go-go leggings (even before Madonna), and teased or Curled hair. Moon Zappa has the voice, but not so much the look. In the early 80s, flat straight, or parted hair may have been a changing fad for Preppy girls, but was NEVER a fad with Authentic Valley Girls. Think of Stacy Qs appearance in her performance of Two of Hearts on the Facts of Life. That style & look premiered in the late 70s & early 80s, way before Stacy Q ever came around. The look was HOT before Madonna or Cyndi Lauper. b. The early 80s Valley Girls helped evolutionize & transition the 70s into the 80s styles. c.
