Franz Biebls stunning Ave Maria (composed in 1964) has become a beloved Christmas season favorite, sung by choirs all over the world, including the Friends of The Orpheus Club of Philadelphia. The piece was first performed in America by the Cornell University Glee Club. Originally scored for a double choir of male voices, Biebl eventually arranged it for SATB double choir, which is the version performed here by the Harvard University Choir at 2003 Christmas Carol Service at Memorial Church of Harvard University.
