Free Public Forum: Chronic Pain The Priority Research Centre for Translational Neuroscience and Mental Health Research (CTNMH), in partnership with Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) invites you to a free public forum providing a comprehensive overview of Chronic Pain. The program will comprise short talks from our leading researchers and clinicians discussing causes of pain, current research into pain, and options for sufferers. Program: • Associate Professor Philip Bolton (University of Newcastle) Chronic Pain and what’s happening in our brain & spinal cord • Dr Brett Graham (University of Newcastle) How do we investigate spinal cord mechanisms in chronic pain? • Dr Phil Jobling (University of Newcastle) Challenges in understanding chronic pelvic pain • Dr Andrew Powell and Ruth White (PhD Candidate, UoN) – Hunter Integrated Pain Service The opioid pendulum and new approaches to pain- tertiary and primary care perspectives • Conjoint A/Prof Michael Pollack – JHH Rehabilitation Medicine Role of the patient in chronic pain management The evening will comprise a 10 minute presentation by each keynote speaker and a Q & A session with our panel of key researchers and clinicians.
