People think were the #1 country in the world because we can kick the shit out of almost any other country since we have fleets of drones and spend more money funding our armed forces than we do educating the next generation of brainless half-wits being birthed. Theyve got it wrong. Japan had the balls to announce they were greenlighting the space elevator project that has been hallmarked as one of the only solutions to one of the biggest hurdles in our ascent to space; getting out of the damn atmosphere. Instead of spending billions of dollars to send 4 people into space on what is basically a gigantic missile, by 2050 Japan hopes to be zipping peacefully up a carbon-nanotube cable that is suspended in space by the centrifugal force generated by Earths rotation. When there is one country that can send people into space for less than $10,000...who do you think is going to be the great world power?
