Freedom comes at a price. Today I am remembering those from my family who took part in the events which I cannot imagine and films cannot recreate. Granddad Enticknap who was machine gunned during the landings in the Dardanelles. My Great Uncle who took part in the Zeebrugge Raid, was taken prisoner and force marched into Germany. He continued to serve in the Navy and survived the Malta Convoy. My great uncle who was blown up on HMS Bulwark. My Great Uncle who was torpedoed in the English Channel. My Grandad Gander who served in India. My Dad who served with the RAF in North Africa and the Middle East. Sues Dad who also served with the RAF in Alexandria in Egypt. If it wasnt for them and thousands like them I would not be here today and neither would you.
