Freelancers : Our new motto. Bottom line is this if you want a writer, its because you want to make money on whatever you want written about. I dont offer to write unless I will make money...I told three prospects this week that I dont take all the risk and turned them down because they wanted to put no skin into their own game.....FU you want me to write and guarentee you placement? Hell no I dont gaurentee you placement I am a writer not magazine owner. Everyone can write just not all can write well, and if you arent writing for a career you have no freaking idea or appreciation of the creative process and relationship building it takes to get editors to want to publish you work. From here on out..all freelancers when it comes time to accepting a bid think of how hard it was to create a contact at a certain publication and maybe its easy for you get an article published theret today but value your time it took to make that easy and make those who want to get into that publication value your efforts with paying you!!! If you accept less you hurt all of us freelancers. My time my effort is worth payment and if you dont want to pay then your project isnt worth writing about. Amen my rant is over. PS the fourth person who I turned down this week ended up changing their terms and is now a client because I call him out on putting no skin in the game and laid it out on the line my value...ifyou dont value your work no one else will.
