Fremantles Nathan Fyfe has been awarded the Leigh Matthews MVP, voted by the AFL Players for their opinion on the best player of 2014. Fyfe won the award with 945 votes, second was Gary Ablett (787 votes), third Lance Franklin (428), fourth Dyson Heppell (274), fifth Josh P. Kennedy (234) and sixth Scott Pendlebury (225) Other awards that were given were the most courageous player, won by Joel Selwood; the best captain, won by Luke Hodge; and the best first year player, won by Marcus Bontempelli.
