Frenchy Fry is a big-girl 9 months old! She crawls - TopicsExpress

Frenchy Fry is a big-girl 9 months old! She crawls everywhere…mostly still a good, fast army crawl, but often gets up on her knees and sometimes does a downward-dog pose that looks like shes about to just stand up and walk. Shes also starting to pull herself up … it seems like especially on hard and low surfaces like Emilys brick fireplace… and she has been pushing herself up from a sitting position for about a week now. Because of this, weve finally transitioned her to a crib. Ill miss her in the sweet wooden bassinet cradle, but it was time for me to let it go, as much as I hate to. It wouldnt have been long until she was rocking that thing over. Shes such a strong, healthy baby. I feel so lucky to not have to worry about her eating habits. Our doctor just told us that we can start feeding her whatever we are eating, which I thought she would be happy to oblige, but it turns out that shes a little lazy turkey and doesnt care for harder-to-chew food. Always something with our crazy girls. She had her first scrambled egg and loved the first two bites, but grew tired of chewing. I have a feeling she will be fine! She is still 75th percentile in height and weight and 95th percentile for that big old head of hers (and all those brains)! She is completely able to pull herself out of her bumbo seat, which means its no longer a trap to keep her still. She is constantly on the move…and requires constant attention. We were able to put Ruby on the floor with some toys and pretty much know that she wouldnt go far…not with this baby. She doesnt stay anywhere for very long. And she is a total scavenger with whatever she can find on the floor. Scares me to death. She found some crayons the other day and I found her with a mouthful of crayon tips! And if theres nothing big around for her, cat food and tiny morsels of whatever she can find on the floor will always do. Frenchy got her first two teeth about 2 weeks ago! Her two bottom teefies came in at the same time…she loves practicing her biting on my knuckles just like Ruby did. Some would argue (Jody Sullivan) that my family getting bites from the babies would lead to bad habits of biting in general…but I just cant help myself. Its so cute to see her expression when she thinks shes giving a good, hard bite…one of my favorite things! Another thing Ive noted about her is that she has not been the slightest bit sick since birth. Ruby was healthy too, but would at least get a little fever when a tooth was coming in or after shots. Not a sign of a sick germ with this one…barely a bad mood. She is the best tempered and happiest baby I think Ive ever seen…certainly the best natured from my family so far! One other interesting difference in her is that as lovey and happy as she is, she doesnt care for being rocked or cuddled. Ruby is the cuddler…if shes in the mood, of course. Frenchy never is…even if shes tired. Shes just too busy. If you lay her down to rock-a-baby, she will just wriggle out of your arms and try to get away to get down to whatever business is going on around her. Even at bedtime, she prefers to just be laid down as opposed to loved and rocked to sleep. Complete opposite of Ruby. So interesting how they are born with their likes, dislikes and personality traits. One of the most surprising things to me about babies. Like Ruby, Frenchy loves the outdoors and is so happy to get her fat little hands in the dirt and grass. Just today she was feeling the wind with her hands raised in the air like Ruby has always done. I love it that they both appreciate a good strong wind and some bright sunshine! Frenchy Fry doesnt even mind the rain…so good and easy breezy. Shes such a joy to be around…Weve got sunshine on a cloudy day…right here in our house! Happy, healthy, our breath of fresh air!
