*Frequently Asked Questions Friday* Q: Were the Cowboys of the 19th century like the cowboys you seen in the movies? A: Hollywood has given cowboys a very Majestic feel. Many of the Iconic images of cowboys have created, were actually more like law men, not in fact COWBOYS. True cowboys, were usually young men that were hired to herd cattle from point A to point B. When they arrived at point B they would get paid, they would enjoy several nights in whatever town they were in, then they would stock up, and begin looking for more work, usually looking for another cattle drive to join. This Saturday we will be screening The Outlaw Josey Wales, starring Clint Eastwood. This film is a great example of what Hollywood has led people to believe is a true COWBOY when all the character, Josey, is an OUTLAW, and not a cowboy. Please join us for some food, music, and a screening of the movie. Hopefully this will spur more conversations on the difference between real cowboys and their mystifying Hollywood counterparts.
