Freshman year, I started a little tradition in my dorm room where I listened to Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture before I fell asleep the night before a gameday in the hope that if I listened to it, we would win the game the next day. I have carried that tradition on throughout my 5 years in marching and pep band at football games and mens hockey games. Tonight will be the final time I will listen to that song as tomorrow is my final pep band game as a member of the University of Minnesota band program. I can only hope that, as it was the first time I listened to it, the outcome of tonights will bring me the same fortune in my final game! Ski-U-Mah Tchaikovsky, Ski-U-Mah!!
