Friday, 19 December 2014 I am so humbled and grateful for everything I have: I looked out my bedroom window this morning, the same way I do every morning and today being Friday, the waste management team were putting out all the bins. As usual the 3 guys, who stop at our complex, very early every Friday morning, were there. They collect the cardboard boxes, magazines, plastic bottles, cans and glass for recycling to earn some money. This morning while I was leaving home, to go to work, one of the guys was actually EATING from the bin :-( :-( :-( . While I waited for the gate to open, I saw an elderly couple who appeared to be walking their little dog. The elderly gentleman walked over to the young man and gave him the 2 bananas that he had in a little packet (this was probably meant to be their morning snack while they walk). *at this point the gate closed again because I was not paying attention* I watched in awe, as the young man fell to his knees with gratitude, both the old man and the young man crying. He thanked the man and started devouring the fruit. *me balling my eyes out* had to rush out the gate as I was now causing traffic inside the complex (other tenants / owners) waiting for me to drive out. I could not hold back the tears. I have often given them food and clothing, but today I realised JUST HOW MUCH EVERY BIT COUNTS! Family & friends… Today I urge you to think twice about throwing food away. Think twice about simply using an old t-shirt as a dust cloth. Think twice before you buy something you WANT and don’t NEED. Let us SHARE what we have, with those who have little or nothing at all and to those who are givers, do not grow weary in your giving. “Lord, my prayer is that I never take for granted YOUR goodness and YOUR mercy towards ME. May I always remember to SHARE and GIVE, the way YOU do LORD JESUS!”
