Friday Devotion Give a Little, Get a Lot Read Mark 19:17-22 Ive never had so much money or material stuff that I get distracted from God, but I used to have 2 friends who were really bad influences on me. I finally decided that even though I liked hanging out with those guys, I needed to give them up as friends because they were dragging me down. It was definitely a tough choice to make, but it made me feel much, much better inside. It helped me focus on the person who should be most important to me: Jesus. Sometimes following God will mean giving up things that seem important. But Jesus has promised that any time we give up something for Him, well get a reward thats way better than whatever you gave up. In my case, I gave up bad friends to get a better relationship with Jesus. Even though it was a hard decision, I know I did the right thing. - Ryan, age 12 What about you? What have you had to give up to follow Jesus? Look around your room for some things you could give away, like clothes and games that are still in good condition. Give these items to your church, secondhand store or a local charity. Ask God to show you what you need to give up in your life. ~Lizzard~
