Friday Matinee - Pullipuli Hit From a classy suspense thriller to racy road movie and from the Craftsman director to the director who knows the pulse of the audience, it is battle of all generations. Who wins, just wait few days, clear picture to be emerged by this weekend. Kadal Kadonoru Mathukutty opened big on first day with 60 lakhs then from day two onwards dropped heavily. Released in around 78 screens and reduced to 65 screens by next day. Reports of reduction of shows in many centers also came in during the week but have the most shows by Malayalam movie in the last week because of one extra day and wide release with 1,800 shows in first 7 days. The box office didn’t show enough mercy which is around 1.90 crore. The prospect in coming weeks looks bleak due to negative to below average WOM circulating. It is going to lose around 20 to 25 screens in the second week. Heading for a Flop as far as box office is concerned. Memories gives feel safe zone to Prithviraj who has been excelled in both at box office and acting as well by last three consecutive successful movies. It also showcase Jeethu Joseph caliber as a director with difference. It is real change from a man who created My Boss. Lack of enough screen created huge block for a swift take off. Expecting heavily on second week with probable chance of getting another 10 screens! First week to be settled at around 2 to 2.10 crore with estimated similar collection in the second week as well! Another hit for Prithviraj Neelaksham Pachakadal Chuvana bhoomi secures Dulquar as an actor with minimum guarantee. Samir Tahir splendid work as a director. It has become wonder of Ramzan season generating wave among the new generation film lovers. Though it had large number of houseful shows due to limited screens of around fifty plus it failed to materialize the tide in its favour. It has turned in to dear of Metros and has collected 2.40 crore in six days across Kerala. Collection will be on higher side in next week with some centers to be added up on. On the way to Super Hit for junior megastar! ‘’Pullipulikalum Attinkuttiyum’’ has average word of mouth but cashing on the Lal Jose factor and Kunchako Boban scores again with usual chocolate boy image. With humour and next door man characters Pullipuli can be termed as safe by first week trend but Kerala can swim any way in the second week. With 1,500 shows in six days the film garners 2.80 crore in highly competitive race. Lal Jose most likely to have another hit with second week facing no real challenge as far as ‘family’ movies is concerned. ‘’Thalaivaa’’ beats Mollywood movies by miles. Earth shattering opening day plus heavy weekend, 2,500 shows in six days, one theater itself shows 7 shows in a day and shows starts in early hours of the morning. Vijai’s film travels big distance in first week and collects staggering 4.60 crores in six days. The issues related to release in Tamil Nadu still not sorted out and it gives added advantage to Kerala screens. It is certain that the ‘title ‘is the hurdle which cost around 40 crore loss to the film in Tamil Nadu. In the land of ‘thalaivar’ don’t try to substitute you with similar name in the big screen. Today’s release: Kerala Top 5 movies – 16/08/2013 1. Thalaiva– Real leader. 2. Pullipulikalum Attinkuttiyum – Victory signal for Lal jose ? 3. Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanabhoomi – Super ride 4. .
