Friday, November 21 1 Peter 1:1-7 A NEW BIRTH, A LIVING HOPE … In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope….1 Peter 1: 3, NIV When Daniel was confronted on his refusal to bow to the king’s image, he said, “I know my Saviour is alive and he has the power to save me.” Daniel is apparently in heaven today while those people in his days who could not take their stand may be in hell. Peter, after viewing the kind of suffering Christians of his time were passing through, reminded them of the need to endure. They went through unfair treatment, persecution and even death from people who did not believe in Jesus. Peter encouraged Christians to have hope not only in the future, but in eternity, at the second coming of Christ. He said this in order to strengthen their faith and to make them know that it is an honour to suffer as Christians. He assured them of the hope, which is real in Jesus Christ. For Christians, persecutions are constant in this world. Let your faith be strengthened. Know that Christ lives in you, and you are a new creation with a living hope. Resolve today that nothing shall separate you from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus. He will take you through the journey of life no matter the difficulties.
