Friday, November 21at 7:30pm - 11:30pm The Blacklake Room, 2706 Blacklake Place, Philadelphia, PA 19154 Hello Everyone, As some of you my best friend son, John is currently undergoing Radiation and Chemotherapy treatments as a result of doctors discovering a 5cm tumor on his brain. Please read below for all the details John Kiessling is a dedicated young man to his fiancée, Cyndi and their 3 year old son, John IV. On July 2, 2014, doctors found a 5 cm tumor called Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) on his brain that was causing his fine motor skills on his left side to not work properly. On July 7th, John underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor. He spent almost two weeks at Jefferson Hospital until he was transferred to Moss Rehabilitation Center for impatient treatments to begin to work on gaining strength in his left side again. John has been released and is continuing his rehabilitation twice a week to continue his progression. Luckily the Pathologist reports ruled out the tumor itself being cancerous, however, there were cells within the tumor that had cancerous characteristics. He started his first rounds of radiation and chemotherapy on September 8th which consists of six weeks of both radiation and chemotherapy followed by chemotherapy treatments for about a year, ultimately resulting to him being out of work for up to a year. John is a Bricklayers & Allied Craftworker Local 1 Journeyman and has been out of work since July 2nd. Prior to this unexpected news, John and Cyndi found out they are expecting a 2nd child, due in February. During the month of July, Cyndi missed many days of work to be with John. Once John begins his chemotherapy and radiation treatments she will again have to miss numerous days at work. As you can imagine, this devastating and unexpected news has already taken a toll on the family both emotionally and financially and will continue to do so until he is fully healed. On November 21, 2014, there will be a benefit for the family held at The Blacklake Room, 2706 Blacklake Place, Philadelphia, PA 19154 from 730pm to 1130pm. Tickets are $ 30 each. We ask that they be purchased prior to the event night.
