The committees goal was to provide European nations with a Patriot interpretation of events in Britains North American colonies, in the hope of soliciting aid for the American war effort. 1812 - Napoleon retreats from Russia and crosses the Berezina River with heavy losses. (a social-service worker in a hospital) 1872 - Horace Greeley, American newspaper editor, a founder of the Liberal Republican Party, a reformer, a politician, and an outspoken opponent of slavery. 1981 - Natalie Wood, nee: Natalia Nikolaevna Zacharenko; Russian: Наталья Николаевна Захаренко, American film and television actress. 1986 - Cary Grant, nee: Archibald Alexander Leach, English stage and Hollywood film actor who became an American citizen in 1942. 1991 - Ralph Rexford Bellamy, American actor whose career spanned 62 years on stage, screen and television. 2001 - George Harrison, MBE, English musician, singer and songwriter who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. If you were born on this day in 1975 your parents wouldve heard Fly, Robin, Fly by Silver Convention topping Billboards Hot 100. Recorded by the German group Silver Convention, the song was released as a single from their 1975 album Save Me. In the United States, it rose to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1975, staying there for three weeks. The single also was No. 1 on the soul singles chart for one week. Fly, Robin, Fly also spent three weeks at No. 1 on the disco/dance charts. It was the first song by a German pop group to reach number one on the American music charts.
