Friday, October 18, 2013 Our last night in Vermont, cleaning up the house to get ready to go, but also with time to head down to the town library for Gaelic music with Kyle Carey, a musician who had spent several years living on the western islands of Scotland. She enthusiastically led the audience in songs and explained the derivations of American music (“Everything leads back to Scotland,” she said). Her voice was rich and clear, such a joy to listen to, and her enthusiasm in sharing this music made the evening a total pleasure. I learned a little Gaelic–“Gaol ise gaol I” (gel isha gel ee) (she is my love) and “Tha gaol agam ort” (ha gel accam orsht) (I love you). Outside the full moon shone over Summer Hill.
