Friday is going to be a very emotional day for me (and a lot of my FB friends). Its the day Wild the movie is being released. Im spending as much time as I can the next few days rereading the book for the last time before seeing the movie. Because, listen: There are some famous authors who think they deserve to be on every NYT Bestseller list, who rarely encourage us struggling writers, who just want sales above all else. And then there are phenomenal people like Cheryl Strayed who will not only teach you, but sit down with you and your friends and talk to you about life and writing. Shell tell you how she wrote a book while having young kids, and how you might be able to do it too. Shell remind you to follow your truth and ignore all the rest of the noise. And shell encourage you as you go. Good things truly do happen to good people. Cheryl, Im so, so happy for you. I will be the one sobbing in the back of the theater.
