Friday is the D-Day Friday the 12 December 2014 will go down in history in the fight against the killer virus Ebola as the Africa Australia Ebola Action Group will be organizing a national summit on Ebola at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. The Summit is organised in partnership with the Settlement Services International, the Australia Red Cross, Africa Professionals Association, the Bo Children Hospital, the Liverpool Migrant Resource Centre, the Australia National Committee on Refugee Women, the Carlingford Rotary Club Inc and Navitas English. The Summit also enjoys the goodwill and support from the Medecins San Frontieres and several African communities and organisation in New South Wales and across Australia. Ebola is not only an African issue. It is a world emergency and catastrophe that is regrettably unfolding. The aim of the Summit is to shape and seek to redefine discuss on Ebola, highlight the Ebola scourge and the issues and challenges faced by families, communities, health and aid workers. It is also aimed to refocus on strategies, based on experience and evidence on ways to best channel efforts of the Australian society and government as well as the international community response in containing and eradicating Ebola. The Summit will also explore short and long term strategies to support to the most affected countries - Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. Key speakers from key medical aid agencies on ground at the affected countries, from universities, health departments and international health organisations have confirmed participation at the Summit. State and Federal MPs and Ministers are also expected at the Summit. Africa-Australian communities and organisations from other states and jurisdictions will also be attending the Summit.
