Friday night again already. Where does the time go? I swear Ill never know. Anyway, being that it is Friday night and all, its now time for another cover tune from my favorite Beatles cover band performing in Saporro Japan: Lennon/McCartney. Here is a really great rendition of The Beatles Everybodys Got Something to Hide Except For Me And My Monkey. Kazuaki Kawajiri pushes fine Lennon vocals and rhythm guitar (appropriately off tempo in the intro), with Hiroyuki Aoyama harmonizing. By the way, Mr. Hiroyuki is really a right-handed player, but does great playing the Hofner bass left handed to add to the effect. Gaku Akita, a really fine guitarist if ever there was one, is right on it with the low level fills and the correctly played louder licks. In this video, drummer Kazunori Sasaki if more visible than usual, so you can not only hear what he is doing, but you get to watch him doing it. I love what he does with the wrist-laden high hat work, the seemingly off beat intro tempo, and the excellent crashing cymbals. All around solid perfomances by all.
