Friday sermon: Always strive to be united under Allah Muslim worshippers will on Friday be told of the importance of standing united under Allah. “The days and nights pass by and the generations pass, while we are blessed with great goods ... all of this proves that the union is the basis for glory,” says the sermon. With unification development is achieved, as a verse from the Quran orders: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favour of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favour, brothers.” As many scholars have said, Allah orders harmony and forbids division, because in division lies destruction and with unity survival is found. “The union is one of the best blessings offered by Allah on His worshippers, and if it were a blessing and a mercy, then division will be a source of torture,” the sermon continues. “We were divided and we united, until our union became a sign of Allah’s signs in achieving unity and victory.” As Prophet Mohammed once said: “Allah’s hand is with the group”, and “remain as a group, as the wolf eats from the distal sheep”. The first thing Prophet Mohammed did after migrating to Medina was uniting Muslims – the migrants with the inhabitants of Medina. In the Quran, Allah always addresses people as a group to point to the importance of unity, such as “O the sons of Adam” or “O people”. The Quran says: “And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
