Friday the 5/6TH of December Map Studio Cafe Singer Omar Lyefook MBE is starring in a play called ‘Lovesong’ LOVESONG Singer Omar Lyefook MBE is starring in a play called ‘Lovesong’ written by him and featuring his own music. In a monologue, Omar plays a character called Oscar who lives in the fast lane but reflects on his reckless lifestyle when taken by surprise finding unexpected love. It’s a one man show directed by award-winning writer and director Ché Walker. The two worked together on the musical ‘Been So Long’, seen at Young Vic London, Latitude & Edinburgh Festivals. Classical actor Simon Callow said, “Omar in Lovesong is funny, funky, touching, tender.” American actor Clarke Peters who starred in The Wire and Treme said, “I care about the main characters to a fault. Omar’s vulnerability and honesty bring a truth to Lovesong that makes his journey credible because I believe he’s lived it. The denouement is full of virtue, hope and positivity. This would be a good film.” Omar is widely regarded as a game changing British soul music singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s early work inspired the American genre ‘neo-soul’ giving rise to star names Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Angie Stone and more. See Omar in ‘Lovesong’ at Map Studio Café, Kentish Town, London on 5/6 December 8PM £20 BOOKINGS: Tel 0207 916 0544/5 EMAIL [email protected]
