Friday there was a shooting at a local school and my hospital took care of the most serious injuries. I took one of the children to the operating room twice. Then I worked all weekend. I am proud of my team. We did an amazing job. I have been a doctor for a long time, and I have never had to face something so difficult. We deal with tragedy all the time and we have to stay above it so we can function. Everyone at work is in shock but we continue to function and provide excellent care to every patient. We will all deal with this in our own way ... I have today off so I can decompress. My thoughts go out to all the victims, the families, and the staff who are dealing with this horrible tragedy.
