Fridays Feature~ Healing drool needed for this boy. Leonardo/Leo is a young 11 y/o. His owner has terminal cancer and couldnt care for him anymore. Hes such a happy boy...tail wagging all the time. Loves people, kids, other dogs and cats. However, Leo was having accidents uncontrollably when he came in. Dr. Lou did some bloodwork and the results made him suspect he had Hyperparathyroidism. That test came back negative, but it was advised he look for cancer somewhere. It was found that he had 3 masses in his rectum area. Leo was in no pain and the rest of his bloodwork looked good. The best chance we could give him was to do an exploratory surgery. There was a chance that these masses had not invaded other organs. We had to give him that chance. Yesterday Leo had surgery and came through great. We were able to remove the masses and Dr. Schmidt feels he will recover nicely. If you are interested in giving Leo a forever home, we encourage you to fill out an adoption application, but he will not be officially available for adoption until he fully recovers and has been in a foster home for a bit. bassetrescue.org
