Fried snake left Kinarut residents in the dark: PAPAR, Sept 9 — Sssssorry, folks! Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) had nothing to do with yesterday’s unexpected hour-long power cut in Kinarut town, leaving over 2,100 consumers without power. It was a serpent that did them in. The consumers found themselves without electricity when the 33 kilovolt line at Papar-Kinarut tripped at 9.24am. Many were left fuming over the power cut which fortunately, lasted for just an hour. The truth was actually out there in the wilderness. A snake had come in contact with an utility pole belonging to SESB, causing the power line to trip and cut off power supply to the residents. On its part, the reptile paid the ultimate price — it was electrocuted. According to SESB senior general manager (asset management) Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim, a total of 2,163 consumers in the area were without electricity supply due to the unexpected incident. “The areas without electricity were around Kinarut town, Kampung Gusi, Taman Sungai Wang, Taman Rose Garden and Taman Kinarut Selatan. “Electricity supply in the areas was restored in stages, from 10.24am, on the same day,” he said in a statement here today. He urged consumers to call the SESB hotline at 15454 and 088-515000 if electricity supply was cut in their area. — Bernama dlvr.it/3x994J
