Friends - Our event co-chair met with a friendly couple last night who confirmed they will be protesting Sundays Pride festival across the street from Mellow Mushroom based on religious concerns. We encourage all attendees to either ignore them or offer water. One of our honorary co-chairs, the wife of McKinney Councilmember Ray Ricchi, posted this today in response: Now lets talk.....You know through the course of my life I have suffered ridicule and judgment, I have also been blessed with the grace and love of those who understand that this is GODs world not mans. Standing, marching or simply believing that equality is essential for all of us to exist in peace together is well.....essential! I have watched this man, my husband Ray Ricchi, Citizens for Ray Ricchi, daily speak up against things that are wrong and fight for the things that are right. I have watched him take the heat and not be silenced by judgement. We should all learn from this. So whoever this touches today, ask yourself when your looking at the person looking back at you in that mirror; When I was created and placed here on earth, what was the purpose of that creation? Was it to place the human race in certain categories so we can have the illusion we are not all created equal? Or is it to stand for the FACT that we are all in this thing called life together? Personally, I decided a long time ago that I would speak up for what I believed in and fight for the rights of all who show love, human kindness and who are advocates for causes that better our world.
