Friends - its a rate occasion when I rant in any public forum, but I feel compelled on this subject. Since the altercation between my Poody and our bigger foster baby, I have posted several times begging for updates. A few people have been kind enough to donate, and many shared. Overall, we havent made much progress. On the contrary, now Im being told that our foster girl, Diamond, is unadoptable because shes linked to an attack on a smaller dog. Hearing that made my blood boil to the point where I am taking a break at work to send this. The facts are not as people want to assume, just because Diamond is a pittie. She has never had an altercation before or since and we have FIVE small dogs. Poody is used to being an alpha dog and he has no problem chasing down the bigger dogs. That night, Poody had a bone. Diamond and two others came running in because they were playing. Poody got aggressive and growled, baring his teeth and jumping in Diamonds face. She barked first but he jumped at her again so she grabbed him and shook him, then dropped him. What happened to my little baby is horrible and Im distraught over it, but I REFUSE to let this sweet pittie be accused of being the brute dog killer in the situation. She is NOT an apartment dog but guess what? She didnt get to choose who saved her from going into the shelter for processing. I made a mistake of the heart by bringing another big and energetic puppy home when we have neither adequate space nor the time. We live in a two bedroom apartment with 10 dogs. Five of those dogs are over 30 lbs. we have begged for help from fosters, even threatening to go to the shelter if necessary. No one stepped up to volunteer for even one of the dogs. So now that we are literally facing threats from maintenance in our complex that we could be evicted for so many, we have no solutions but the worst - GCAC - if we cant get help from other fosters. Judge me if you want for taking on too many bit DO NOT judge our pittie princess. Shes stuck without a truly adequate home and no potential to escape and she defended herself. If we cant find a home or foster immediately, she and several others will end up at the shelter. Look at her pictures. Our chiweenie (11 lbs) is laying on her head. What a killer!
