Friends - lets talk about property taxes again: Earlier in the campaign, I came out with a plan to reform property taxes and make them fair again for homeowners and small businesses. My ideas do not -- repeat do not -- raise the sales tax or any tax for that matter. Why? Because raising the sales tax is a terrible idea -- it will hurt our statewide economy, and its simply unfair. Dan Patrick and Glenn Hegars idea to cram property tax limitations down the throats of local governments, without fixing the real problem of appraisals and appeals, while raising sales tax to boot, is just another sign of fiscal cluelessness.
