Friends, I want you to understand my desire for open, honest, and fair government. It is saddening to see failing governments at all levels. Why does our government no longer serve its people? Why do politicians seemingly become corrupt shortly after taking office? It is because they wont stand up against the pressures. My hat is off to Judge Barty Bullock. He did a great job maintaining his integrity while in office. I want that same level of integrity, but I want to take it further. Without the trust of its people, no government can achieve sustainable progress. It is your government, and we are your servants. You deserve a government you can trust. My goal will be to give you that government. How? 1. We will give you full and easy access to all government business allowable by law. We will provide financial reports, business meetings and minutes, public bids, etc. on an easy to use, up to date website. There is no reason anyone should have to make a special trip to the courthouse for this information. 2. I will have regular radio shows informing residents of county plans and progress. I will submit regular articles to the newspaper. And will conduct an interactive web blog so individuals and groups can get answers to relevant questions. 3. Bids will be posted and opened publicly. Anyone who wishes to do business with our county will have a fair chance to do so. 4. There will be no more buying political favors like we have seen in previous administrations. There will be no more transactions under the table. County business will be conducted with the full scrutiny of the public. I want you to know that your government is in good hands. I want your support in moving our county forward. I need your full trust as the leader of this county. So I promise to provide you an open, honest, and fair government of which you will be proud.
