Friends ask for help for Ashanie Russell family WAKE FOREST — Many in the community are still reeling from the news of the Christmas Eve crash on Capital Boulevard that claimed the life of 2013 Wake Forest High School graduate Ashanie Russell and put his sister and brother in the hospital (along with two people from a second vehicle). Aaleyah Russell is reportedly home from the hospital, but their younger brother, Michael, remains in intensive care. While there’s nothing that can be done to take away Ashanie’s family’s loss, friends have created two ways to help with the overwhelming funeral and medical expenses. The first is a “Go Fund Me” page where direct donations can be made: gofundme/jc4x3k. The second is the McDonalds in Rolesville will hold a fundraiser all day Wednesday, Jan. 7. The owners of the restaurant have pledged to donate 50 percent of all restaurant sales from the day, as well as any direct donations, to the Russell family. In addition to the above, a fellow Wake Forest High School football player, Charlie Graves, has created a Facebook page to share photos and thoughts about Ashanie to be compiled into a scrapbook for the family. Go to tiny.cc/AshanieRussellScrapbook or search for Ashanie Russell Scrapbook on Facebook for more information. As of this posting, funeral arrangements for Ashanie Russell have been made for Jan. 4, 2:30 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville.
