Friends, we are so sorry to have to share some unfortunate news. The shelter is closing temporarily due to an isolated case of ringworm in a small group of dogs. At the recommendation of the State of Maine Animal Welfare Program, we will be closed for adoptions and intakes until early September. We have attached a press release with more details. We are currently in the process of reaching out to foster families, adopters, volunteers, and the entire Coastal community in an effort to reach everyone who may be affected by this development. We are optimistic that this will remain an isolated incident, but will continue to monitor and test each of our animals carefully. Be assured that we will continue to keep you informed of the latest developments and lo let you know how you can help. We are assessing, with ASPCA, our Challenge status. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have expressed your support, and thank you also to everyone who has volunteered to help. What we need most right now are bath towels; paper towels; Feliway; sandwich-bag and quart-size zip lock bags; and disposable plastic bowls.
