From 14 to 16 October, Chisinau hosted the Seminar on “Youth Participation in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus”, organized in the framework of the “European Union – Council of Europe Youth Partnership”. The main objective of the seminar was to promoting young people’s participation in policy processes. Representatives from 14 countries of the Eastern European and South Caucasus region attended during the event. At this occasion, H.E. Pirkka Tapiola Ambassador Head of European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, together with H.E. the Minister of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Moldova and the new appointed Head of Office of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Moldova addressed the audience underlining the importance of empowering the young generation by promoting real opportunities for youth in the society. He further highlighted EUs strong commitment to contribute towards this objective, noting that the budget for the Erasmus+ programme for the period from 2014 to 2020 amounts to 14 billion Euro which represents an increase by about 40% compared to the last period. In conclusion this shows for him the importance of this supporting youth generation for the EU.
