From 1889 American Encyclopedia....She was pretty famous export in her field... Lucy Myers Mitchell archeologist born in Urumiah Persia in 1845 died in Berlin Germany March 10 1888. She was a daughter of Rev Austin Wright a missionary and physician among the Nestorians at the time of her birth, was educated in United States chiefly at Mount Holyoke college in Massachusetts and later returned to Urumiah. In 1864 she married Samuel S. Mitchell an Artist. In 1867 and subsequently she spent greater part of her life in Europe. In 1872-1873 while living in Leipzig she became deeply interested in classical archaeology and published a series of letters on archaeological researches and discoveries and illustrated articles on Greek sculpture. She published her "History of Ancient Sculpture" (New York 1883)and established herself in Berlin and began collecting materials for a history of Greek vases and vase paintings. In 1884 she was taken sick while collecting spent the last year of her life in a vain search of a good health in Switzerland.
