From 2005-2009 I worked as a night driver for Netflix. I was into investing in stocks and the Netflix stock was between $11-$16 a share. Since I worked for Netflix, I could have purchased their stock with a 15% discount if I choose to take the investment out of my check. Around this same time XM Radio was about to merge with Sirius Satellite Radio. I figured it would be smart to buy a ton of Sirius stock thinking the merge would at least double my profits. I invested over $8,000 in Sirius and lost it all. If I would have invested in the Netflix stock instead I would have made a killing because once they started streaming movies online their profits shot through the roof! Today the netflix stock is at $358 a share. At one point I think it was even close to $500 a share! The moral of this story is many of us dont recognize the value that is right in front of our face. We need to start paying more attention to the people close to us who bring value into our lives everyday.
