From 25th to 29th August we introduced the 70 learners from Parkview Senior School to our Conservation Game Theme. Split into three groups everyone had the chance to experience all of our four camps. At camp Gemsbok we saw some exciting races during the well enjoyed Jungle Challenge and on our game drives we were lucky to see the new reintroduced Gemsbok and Waterbuck. When we taught the kids about eco-systems in the evenings we were happy to find out how much knowledge they brought with them. Baboon awaited the students with information about alien and indigenous plants and they were able to help us getting rid of some of our own alien trees around camp. Relaxing during the sunset solitaire, everyone was ready for an energetic ravine hike in the early morning. As you cant leave our bush without getting some survival skills, the Grunters, Oinkers and Snorters learned how to build a shelter at camp Hedgehog, found their way through Terror N Treasure in the night and were taught how to use a compass in the morning. The last day we spent all together at camp Crocodile, where we not only enjoyed the Mudstacle but also watching the kids decide on a menu for the evening Enviro Restaurant Challenge. After an exciting visit at the shop with 70 kids, they started preparing their own meals which ended in quite different and some delicious results. We closed the week in the morning with a final game purchase for the farms that the seniors had bought in our auction on the first day, collecting E-Bucks for it over the whole week. Thank you Parkview for bringing us these enthusiastic learners for 17 years now! We are looking forward to next years visit!
