From AST President Roy Zacharias: Happy National Surgical Technologist Week!!! Today kicks off a week of recognition for the best profession in the world. As surgical technologists we are highly educated and specifically trained to provide surgical care that is second to none. I encourage every surgical technologist to make it a point to educate those who are not aware of what we do, and to reinforce our relationship as team members in the operating room. This week is OUR time to celebrate as we stand next to surgeons and provide support that can only come from SURGICAL TECHNOLOGISTS! To all of the surgical technology instructors that have provided education and skilled training, I want to say thank you for your sacrifice and sharing of the best practices that guarantee the surgical technology profession will always be strong.
