From Carolyn Baker Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through those you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:2-4) Prayer: Jesus, I find such joy and peace in the truth of Your Word. True knowledge comes from You. Your Word sets me free so I can be who You have created me to be. Every day through Your divine power You are providing me with all I need to live a godly life – a life that in the end will bear lasting fruit. There is no greater relationship in the world than the one I have with You Jesus. Your gift of grace is one of the most valuable gifts I have ever been given. Relying on Your grace has kept me on a level path. I know that without this dependence, I would have surely slipped and fallen over the precipice into a great darkness. Even as I pray, I am somehow aware of the radiance of Your glory – and it fills me with hope, peace and joy. I can’t quite explain the sense that I have of Your presence – but it is real – as real as the sun is. You may be in heaven, but You are also right here with me as I pray. In some ways, the “out-raying” of Your Presence is the thing that keeps me moving forward - instead of falling into complacency. My prayer today is that we will all come to a deeper understanding of who You are in us. Everything we need is in You, Jesus. Too many of us somehow feel we have to have enough faith - if You are going to prosper us. Help all who pray this prayer realize that You are sufficient for their every need. It’s not about us – it’s about who You are in us. We need to get this one right. What we believe about our faith and our own purpose on this earth is wrapped up in this. It’s how we see ourselves that often determines how we think and feel. You are not our enemy – it’s our minds that are often the enemy of our God. Perspective is reality and if we are living in an illusion of our own making, we will never be ready or willing to receive Your favor. We somehow manage to think that the way we think of ourselves is the way You think about us. Help us I cry – deliver us from this madness that often takes over our lives. Everything we need is in You – it is not dependent on us having the proper amount of faith or the right, ministry – or the right job. You are not withholding anything from us! We just need to accept what You so freely offer. I ask you to visit us with Your favor today Jesus. Manifest Yourself to Your people and give them the faith to believe that “we are complete in You”, no matter how undeserving we might feel ourselves. My prayer heart tells me that the time is coming when Your increasing Presence as described in Malachi will become a reality. The great day of God is certainly closer than it was yesterday. The same increasing Presence that causes Your wrath to descend upon the wicked, will also cause your glory to be seen upon the righteous. Let it be so Jesus – and get us ready to speak into the darkness with the truth of Your salvation – so that none should perish. To You be all the honor and the glory!
