(From Chris): Windows XP End of Support (Part 2): Essentially, what it means is that Microsoft will no longer be issuing security updates for Windows XP - Which means after April 8th, ALL windows XP computers WILL BE VULNERABLE TO HACKERS!!! - I have been watching this ever since the first announcement was made by Microsoft last year - Further, the hacker community is waiting for this date to come as well, since they have discovered MANY INSECURITIES that can be exploited to their benefit after the April 8th deadline has come and passed - Options? - Here are a few: 1). You can go and buy a new computer (not the best idea right now, since whats out there in the stores mostly is Windows 8 et al) - Windows 8 has effectively tanked in the consumer market (much like Windows Vista did when it first came out) - Generally speaking, the majority of people who have tried windows 8, HATE IT WITH A PASSION! It is difficult to use, compared with XP, since the desktop option has been taken away, and if you dont have a monitor that is a touch screen youre out of luck. 2). If you, or someone you know is fairly computer literate, you can INSTEAD, upgrade your existing computer to Windows 7 (support for Windows 7 is still in place, and its a NICE OPERATING SYSTEM to use!) - If you know where to shop, a Windows 7 full system installation disc can be bought for a relatively lower cost (compared to when it first debuted - when it first came out, these discs were over $300.00 - I got one for $85.00 recently)....... 3). There are options out there on the internet, where you can order the kind of PC you want, and have Windows 7 pre-installed, and shipped to your home address - there is also an independent PC shop in the Manchester/Nashua/Hudson area that can also help with these questions: Showtime Computers - Will post the link for their location(s) below - I trust these folks COMPLETELY (theyre MUCH BETTER than Best Buy) - Thats all I got for now - Good Luck to you all!....Cheers showtimepc/
