From Coach Filberto: WEIR FOOTBALL WEEKLY UPDATE: OK, the rest period is over, time to get back to work As the season ends I always think that everyone needs a long rest and football is something that well talk about at a much later date. There I go kidding myself again. Time to get back to work. Before we start on next season I think that we need to recap this past season. This PROGRAM has made great strides. Our TEAM members nearly doulbled from last season. We won three consecutive games. We claimed the Carl Hamill Trophy. We were the WTOV9 TEAM of the WEEK. Those things are very important, but the things you cant measure impressed me more than anything else. We became a TEAM. We cared about each other. There was a common respect among TEAM members. We had Senior leadership. We gained respect not only in the Weirton community, but also in the OVAC and through out West Virginia. A sense of pride showed every day at practice as well as at games. This TEAM laid the foundation for the for the resurgence of THE GREAT WEIR PROGRAM that we all remember and expect.!!!!!! Our award winners for the East Liverpool game were: Scout TEAM - Patrick McCoy Wood Chopper - John Frankovitch In preparation for next season our coaches will start meeting this week. We will have a TEAM meeting for all interested in playing next season before Thanksgiving. We will start meeting with each individual from this past seasons TEAM to discuss their goals for the future. Our weight program will begin the Monday after Thanksgiving. We will have the weight room open after school Monday thru Thursday and at 6am on Monday and Thursday. We expect all TEAM members not involved in other Weir sports to be active in our program. TEAM becomes stronger in the weight room(IN MANY WAYS)!!!! Im looking forward to attending the Little Steelers Banquet on Friday November 15. The WEIR FOOTBALL Banquet will be Sunday December 15 at the Serbian Cultural Center. This event and many others are sponsored by the WEIR FOOTBALL BOOSTERS. PLEASE get involved. My weekly updates will become monthly update until June camp. This being Thanksgiving month, I am thankful that I am the Football Coach at WEIR. I am blessed. Thank You, Coach Filberto
