From Dr. Starr (Re: tomorrows event in Saratoga): There has been a good amount of publicity surrounding this event -- see the Post Star this morning and the Penny Saver over the past few weeks. The Governor will present his budget as part of the State of the State address this afternoon, and it is not expected to help education. Our battle for funding will be waged with our Senators and the Assembly, which is why the event tomorrow evening is so critical. Our goal is to eliminate the GEA, which has devastated us over recent years. I encourage any who can attend to do so, as a large number of attendees is part of our strategy. As we have in the past, contact with our local legislators is important. Letters, phone calls, e-mails, and office visits all add to the impression we make that this is not just a small group of administrators trying to balance budgets. Rather, it is a large part of their constituency that does not want the Governor to dismantle public education through the GEA!
