From Jamin May 20, 2014 Ryker Update: Your prayers have been effective, and God is faithful! Ryker remains unconscious and in serious condition, but the virus that has infected his brain seems to be in retreat. First, the most recent scan of his brain shows no progression of swelling and some indicators that the right hemisphere of his brain actually has more free space. Second, his blood shows clear evidence that his body has already begun the healing process, and levels are returning to normal. Last, and certainly not least, Ryker continues to maintain limited movement of his right arm and leg, giving the neurologists evidence that some of his left hemisphere (that seized) remains alive and that more may become active as swelling decreases. We need your continued, fervent prayers that this development will continue and that Ryker will not suffer any additional swelling or damage from the meningitis (viral infection of the brain). The next brain scan is scheduled for Thursday, and in the meantime treatment continues as he rests and tries to heal. Regardless of the outcome, we have a long road ahead but are excited by this renewed hope that we can walk with Ryker through rehabilitation and get our little boy back. Hes such a sweet kid, and it has killed me to watch him suffer every day. Crystal has had to power through caring for a daughter with the flu and a newborn...and today she developed a bacterial infection. I praise God and give Him all the glory for the good news today, because the doctors were truly powerless to do anything. This is all Him, and we are so grateful.
