From Jenni Fields Pastry Chef Online Good morning, Fearless Friends! I just realized I forgot to share my #tbtfood post yesterday. What we have here is a mixed cherry-berry grunt. Its an awful name, I know. You can also refer to it as a slump if youd prefer. This is exactly like a cobbler except instead of baking it in the oven, you cook it on the stove top over low heat until the dumplings are puffed and cooked through. As you can tell from the photo, the dumplings dont brown, and so there are no hard crunchies to slow you down. This is fruity dessert comfort food at its finest. Most of the recipes I looked at didnt call for sugar in the dumplings. I thought that was silly, so I added some. Enjoy!
