I had to sit the kids down and talk to them about some things that had been going on behind the scenes for a few months. I was amazed, once again, how wise beyond their years they both can be. Both looked at the positives & exciting things we are moving towards and both dug deeper into their thoughts on consequences & accountability. There was one very interesting thing that resonated with me in this emotionally taxing conversation: my tattoos were brought up and how there was a person that had to be removed from our lives (not family) that HATED my tattoos, and really looked down on me for having them. As I was explaining this to Zeke & Paxton, Pax especially became RAGING mad... like- nothing else ticked her off more than the criticism about my tattoos. She started crying and said those tattoos are about our family- it has Nana (Elizabeth) and Papa (Barry) and me and Zeke. They tell our story. Yes, they do, sweet girl. All I could say to them was Guys- if they cant accept the tattoos or whatever it is that helps make you YOU, they dont get to know you at all. It was one of those crazy conversations you never think you will have with your children...but you just pray it sticks with them.
