From: Jerry Flynn To: letters@washpost Sent: Monday, July 14, 2014 Subject: The Gravest Threat to Any Nations National Security - Wireless Smart Meters Employed to Operate and Control the National Electric Power Grid Dear Editor, Neither the Canadian government nor the Canadian media are willing to discuss Canadas inexcusably irresponsible decision to use wireless Smart Meters to operate, maintain and control Canadas critically-sensitive national electric power grid! It is known that Canada, like Great Britain and Australia, is simply following the lead of the USA, who first conceived of and are now aggressively championing this most inappropriate and dangerous use of wireless technology, seemingly in every industrial sector! All militaries of the world know that no technology is more defenceless and vulnerable to a host of attacks than is a wireless radio system! Surely Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and Al-Qaeda, amongst others, must be absolutely salivating at our colossal Lemming-like stupidity! I am a retired Canadian Armed Forces Captain who spent 22 of my 26 years service in the arcane worlds of Electronic Warfare (EW) and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT). Milestones in my career included the two years I spent as the Executive Officer (2-i/c) and Operations Officer at one of Canadas largest and most sensitive intelligence-gathering radio stations. Another milestone was the two years I spent in National Defence Headquarters, Ottawa, in the Directorate of Electronic Warfare (DEW), where I was charged with supporting Canadas army EW unit while working closely with U.S. and NATO army EW units. During my time in Ottawa, I accepted invitations to visit both the Pentagon and Fort Bragg, N.C. Operationally, I conducted EW operations in both naval and army environments; whereas in SIGINT I worked closely with NSA for many years and, to a lesser extent, with GCHQ. As my three letters (attached below) show, I attempted to bring this most serious of all matters to the attention of Canadas Prime Minister, Stephen Harper - twice. Both times I received only perfunctory replies indicating my letters had been received. I subsequently wrote to Canadas then Minister of National Defence, Peter McKay, from whose office I received another equally superficial reply. Given the above, it is my earnest hope that the Washington Post will rise up once again and be the standard-bearer for democracy; somehow the public must be made aware of what their governments are doing and of the unprecedented dangers to which the entire populations of the U.S. and Canada are being exposed - as is happening in Great Britain and Australia, as they too are pushing wireless Smart Meters. Yours truly, James Gerald (Jerry) Flynn, Captain (Retired)
