From Margaret: Today Carl learned to propel himself in a wheelchair, which is not as simple as it seems with one good arm and one good leg. But he mastered the moves and had the energy to travel the hallway and join the group out in the courtyard area for the Wednesday evening patient BBQ. He really enjoyed sitting outdoors (he always tells me he is not an indoor kitty) and the sound of the waterfall fountain was just so pleasant. I found myself fighting waves of sadness, though, as I looked around at the many other patients in wheelchairs, damaged bodies and healing souls, and my sweet guy in the middle of it. I dont think anyone ever imagines the sudden turns your life can take, and I know I have taken so many blessings for granted.... Carls walker privileges are suspended for now because he is not supposed to bear any weight on his right leg due to the hip fracture. He has no muscle strength to lift the leg right now, so the physical therapists decided that he cannot use the walker until he learns how to keep the weight off that leg. He said he didnt like the walker anyway (imagine that!) Ladies, give your big strong hubby a hug tonight and join me in thanking our heavenly Father for the gift of a loving husband! May we appreciate them more! Thanks for your love and prayers.
