From Plan Commission Chair Pam Lazaris: The City Plan Commission is hosting the next public discussion of the proposed zoning ordinance update on Tuesday, August 27. Lake Mills Business Community, Lake Mills Main Street Members, Interested Members of the Public, You are invited to the next Public Discussion on the proposed City Zoning Ordinance update, hosted by City of Lake Mills Plan Commission. We look forward to your comments. Tuesday, August 27 – 6:00 to 7:00 PM – City Council Chambers, 200 Water Street, Floor 2 The draft of Chapter 5, Design Guidelines & Regulations, will be discussed. Here are the topics: • Non-Residential Design Guidelines and Regulations – building and site design regulations for commercial, industrial, civic, educational, and religious properties. • Downtown Design Guidelines – applies to new construction, floor area expansion more than 25%, and façade renovations. • Multi-Family Residential Design Guidelines and Standards – applies to new multi-family buildings of three or more units and to major changes to existing multi-family buildings exceeding 50% of appraised value. • Traditional Neighborhood Development – flexibility for developers who want to do compact mixed-use developments. • Landscape and Buffer Regulations – covers street frontage trees, screening of parking areas, landscaping around site perimeters and next to buildings, parking lot landscaping, and screening of service and storage areas. For Non-Residential, Downtown, and Multi-Family properties, building and site design regulations generally cover: preserving natural features, situating open space, position and orientation of buildings, internal drives and circulation, pedestrian access, outdoor service and storage areas, building color and materials, façade treatment, multi-building arrangements, and building entrances.
